Bison did what they do best — and still came up short

It was setting up so neatly for yet another North Dakota State victory over a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent. 

While many North Dakotans were either asleep or glued to their favorite bar’s TVs, the Bison were trying to put the finishing touches on another one of those games where they physically impose their will and run over their opponent in the game’s final minutes.

Only this time, NDSU hit a wall.

Valley City RBs spark win over Midgets

Defense ruled the first half of Dickinson High’s homecoming football game Friday night against Valley City.

Unfortunately for the Midgets, Valley City’s Zach Sykora and Ethan Miller controlled the second half.

The Hi-Liners’ junior running back duo combined for 223 rushing yards and four touchdown runs as they wore down the Midgets en route to a 27-6 victory at the Biesiot Activities Center.

Trinity beats Heart River 55-6, Odermann earns 50th career win as head coach

Dickinson Trinity football coach John Odermann walked off the field after speaking to his team Thursday night and immediately found his wife holding their 1-week-old daughter.

“I didn’t win my first one until I met my wife and my new baby, Summer Lucille, was here for No. 50,” he said. “So that was pretty special for the Odermann family.”
